NICHE
was instituted on August 30, 1999, by the Idaho State Board of Education
to provide the citizens of Northern Idaho a "one-stop source"
of information on higher education in the area. The Center represents
North Idaho College, the University of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State
College and Idaho State University. Committed to the planning and
delivery of higher education to the region, NICHE has information
on the programs and degrees offered by all four of the institutions.
NICHE proctors/administers the following tests:
- CLEP
- COMPASS
- PRAXIS
An appointment to take each test (with the exception
of PRAXIS; to register for PRAXIS, click the above link to register
online) is recommended and can be arranged by calling NICHE at least
one week prior to the desired date. A photo ID is required for all
tests. NICHE also proctors for courses taken at other institutions
for a $10 fee. Reasonable accommodations can be provided to students
with documented disabilities. Accommodations may include a private
room, additional testing time, or other approved measures.

NICHE offers access to the Idaho
Career Information System (CIS) so that individuals may explore
various occupations, salary information, employment outlooks, educational
opportunities, and numerous other options related to careers. Use
CIS on one of our computers or call us for a user ID and password
to access Internet CIS at home.
If you are enrolled in courses at NIC and also
enrolled in courses at ISU, LCSC, or the U of I during the same
semester, you may be entitled to a fee waiver. Your concurrent enrollment
fee waiver status will be determined by combining credits from the
institutions you are enrolled in. If the total amount of your tuition
(not including course-specific tuition) exceeds $2205, you may be
eligible for a refund. Please
read the Student Responsibilities on the attached fee waiver form
and if you think you may qualify, turn in a completed form to NICHE.

A postsecondary institution must make reasonable
accommodations in order to provide students with disabilities an
equal opportunity to participate in the institution's courses, programs,
and activities. If you have a documented disability and need assistance
acquiring accommodations, contact NICHE or visit the following websites:
