State University offers a Master of Science in Nursing in Coeur
d'Alene that seamlessly integrates with nursing programs offered
by NIC and LCSC. Emphasis on health policy and rural issues prepares
graduates to assume leadership and provider roles in a variety of
settings including administration, education and primary health
care. For nurses seeking graduate education, ISU offers six options:
Clinical Nurse Leader, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Family Nurse Practitioner,
Nursing Education, Nursing Leadership, and Post-Master's in Nursing
Certificate.
The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Option prepares
students to direct outcomes management for a distinct patient population,
actively provide direct patient care and implement evidence-based
practice to ensure patients benefit from the latest care delivery
innovations.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Option prepares
students as advanced practice nurses to work in an adult medical-surgical
specialty area.

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Option prepares
students for primary care of diverse populations in a variety of
settings.

The Nursing Education Option is grounded in adult
learning theory and includes a teaching/learning practicum, as well
as a focus on teaching with technology.

The Nursing Leadership option is designed to
prepare advanced practice nurses to assume leadership roles within
acute, ambulatory care, or community-based settings.

The Certificate Program is designed for master's
prepared nurses who seek advanced preparation in another specialty
area of nursing.
